Introduction
The Nordax Entity Trust Protocol (NETP) is the trust layer for AI-driven commerce. It gives autonomous AI agents a way to answer one critical question: “Is this business real, trustworthy, and current?”
Without a standard trust layer, AI agents have no reliable way to evaluate business identity. They fall back on scraped reviews, outdated directories, and guesswork. NETP replaces all of that with cryptographic proof.
The Problem
AI agents are becoming the primary way customers discover and choose businesses. But these agents have no trust infrastructure to rely on. There's no equivalent of SSL certificates for business identity — no standard way for an AI to verify that a business is legitimate before recommending it to a user.
The result: AI agents either recommend businesses they can't verify (creating liability), or they recommend nobody at all (losing revenue for legitimate businesses). The trust gap between “business exists on the internet” and “this business is verified and trustworthy” has no existing solution.
What NETP Does
NETP produces four outputs that AI agents consume when making trust decisions about businesses:
Verifiable Credentials
A cryptographically signed document that proves what verification steps a business has completed. Any third party can independently verify it.
Trust Score
A composite score (0–1000) computed entirely from machine-verifiable signals — no human reviews, no ratings, no opinions. The score reflects verification depth, web presence, business relationships, profile quality, and recency.
Real-Time Attestations
A signed, time-bounded snapshot of a business's current trust status. Generated fresh on every request so AI agents always have up-to-date information.
Decentralized Identifiers
A globally unique, W3C-standard identifier assigned to every business. It serves as the anchor for all trust evidence and can be resolved by anyone.
Together, these outputs give AI agents everything they need to evaluate, compare, and recommend businesses with confidence — without relying on any single platform's proprietary data.
Five Integrated Systems
NETP is built from five interdependent systems. Each solves a specific piece of the trust problem. Together, they form a complete trust infrastructure that no single system could provide alone.
Verifiable Credentials
What: Issues cryptographic proof of business verification
Why: So AI agents can verify a business is real — not just claimed
Trust Quotient
What: Scores business trust from objective, verifiable signals
Why: So AI agents can compare businesses on a level playing field
Edge Attestation
What: Delivers signed trust snapshots in real time
Why: So AI agents always have current trust data — never stale
Entity Resolution
What: Matches ambiguous business references to verified records
Why: So AI agents can find the right business even from partial information
Decentralized Identifiers
What: Assigns a unique, standards-based ID to every business
Why: So AI agents can track and verify businesses across any platform
Why It Matters
The shift to AI-driven commerce is already happening. When a customer asks an AI assistant to find a plumber, recommend a restaurant, or compare accountants, the AI needs to decide who to recommend. Today, it has no trustworthy way to make that decision.
For Businesses
For AI Agents and Developers
For the Ecosystem
NETP creates a shared trust layer that benefits everyone. Businesses invest in verification once and get recognized everywhere. AI agents get reliable trust signals without building proprietary verification systems. Consumers get better recommendations backed by real evidence.
Who It’s For
Local Businesses
Claim your profile, verify your identity, and get discovered by AI agents recommending businesses to real customers.
AI Agent Developers
Integrate NETP via API or MCP to add trust-aware business recommendations to your agent without building verification from scratch.
Platforms & Aggregators
Use NETP as the trust layer for business listings, enabling verified, standards-based identity across your marketplace.
Built on Open Standards
NETP is built entirely on open, internationally recognized standards. This ensures that trust data is portable, independently verifiable, and not locked into any single vendor.
